Sonores Acoustics had the honour to provide a full acoustic design for Antwerp’s first listening bar. Fine dining, award-winning cocktails and an excellent listening environment all come together in Smudged. The room acoustic design aims to attain a highly transparent reproduction of music while maintaining a keen balance between atmosphere and intimacy. These seemingly opposing design goals were achieved by essentially combining two rooms in one - the room as ‘seen’ by the loudspeakers and the room as ‘seen’ by the visitors. This tailored acoustic environment was realised by implementing a range of sound control techniques in mainly custom designed building elements, seamlessly integrated in the final architectural and aesthetic design.

In order to comply with environmental noise criteria while maintaining a minimal loss of space, a decoupled isolation shell with cld technique was provided.
